Holiday Budgeting

November 24, 2020 by Trying to get ahead Leave a Comment

Saturday my husband and I went to purchase our Thanksgiving fixings.  I realized years ago that the food we buy is specific to this particular day (and Easter).  I also realized back then that it is a major budget buster because it is a major grocery trip for just one meal… ONE MEAL.

I created a fund for myself that includes holidays, gifts, birthdays and all it encompasses.  Each payday I allot a certain amount of money into that fund to be prepared for those occasions. For gifts, I allot a certain amount of money to spend for each person on my list.

To me, the frenzy of the holidays can be stressful. I am so glad to have the cushion I need to make these occasions special.
